Early birds in Tauranga might’ve caught two Accessible Properties homes on the move through town on Monday night.
Housing Development Manager Libby Gosling and Project Manager Dave Orrell were on hand for the first part of the journey from Links Ave in Mt Maunganui to their final destination in Gate Pā, Tauranga.
The houses, which are going to be refurbished for new tenants, were jacked up on two truck and trailers, and moved off site at 2.30am yesterday morning. The road had to be closed and the whole operation needed to be finished by 5am to minimise disruption.
The Mt Maunganui site will soon have nine new homes - options for families of different sizes in a great community.
This project is part of Accessible Properties' drive to ramp up the delivery of much-needed social housing.
CEO Kelly Bunyan says it’s one of seven developments currently in train for delivery this year in Tauranga and Te Puke.
“And we are planning for more. With our resources and expertise, we're dedicated to expanding the supply of social housing in the Bay of Plenty and across New Zealand.”
Stay tuned as we continue working to create homes and build communities that make a difference!
