Taking building to new heights!

Crane lifts home

It’s not often that you can say a house stops traffic – but that was the case for one Accessible Properties home in Tauranga.

“The four bedroom home was built in two pieces and clipped together on site. The transport/lifting operating was made possible by using two large semi-lorries and a mobile crane with a lifting capacity of 400 tonnes!” says Dave Orrell,Project Manager Tauranga Reconfiguration.

“It involved an early morning start and permits to close the road including traffic management. The lifting operation started at 6:30am and was completed before school started at 9:00am.”

Accessible Properties has half a dozen major building contractors in Tauranga to deliver the New Supply Properties and Multi-unit Developments. Each have been chosen for their style of build (some brick and tile, some tile pile foundation) and often are placed in one area or region to avoid congestion.

Ezyline Homes provided this dwelling – which is sited in Henderson Crescent, Parkvale, Tauranga - and specialise in prebuilt or yard construction to minimise disruption to existing tenants.

Ezyline Homes build 1, 2 and 4 bedroom homes for APL and at one stage APL had four dwellings under construction in the yard at one time.

“Often when one of the APL properties leaves the yard another starts the very next day,” Dave says.

The yard build time is approximately 10 weeks before being transported to site. The grounds, fences and drives take another 3-4 weeks.
