Chooks may or may not be very bright but there’s no question their heads are small and can fit in tiny spaces.
Not so much their bodies.
A Rhode Island Red living next door to Accessible Properties tenants got out of her pen yesterday and with pet dogs in noisy pursuit, unsuccessfully tried to escape through a very narrow gap in the fence.
The wedged bird was out of reach of the dogs but going nowhere so our top poultry wranglers, Maintenance Manager Ryan and Tenancy Manager Toni, had to abandon their home inspection and execute a rescue.
Ryan grabbed his hammer from the car and took down a paling to let her through. But she didn’t trust him or Toni any more than the dogs so a second chase was on. The exhausted escapee was no match for our hen herders though who scooped her up and returned her to the safety of the coop
We’re happy to say she seemed none the worse for wear and the fence has been reinstated.
