At sunrise on Tuesday local kaumatua Puhirake Ihaka and Steve Te Kani from Ngai te Rangi blessed the Mt Maunganui site where nine brand-new Accessible Properties homes will take shape this year.
The blessing acknowledges mana whenua’s strong cultural and spiritual bonds to the land and through karakia cleanses the site prior to breaking ground, helping make it safe for the hardworking building team.
Initial earthworks are already underway, with retaining and services coming up next. It’s all go!
